Back to school time traditionally means the end of summer. Growing up, everyone remembers the all-day shopping trips where mom bought all the new clothes you just had to have for that first day of school. I don’t know about you guys, but I had to make sure I was so fresh coming back to school after my classmates hadn’t seen me for three months. Now that I think about it, I had to supervise my mom with my fashion choices, even from a young age. For awhile there she was buying all of my clothing like 2 sizes too big, I never understood that.
So for those of us who aren’t teachers and who don’t have kids in school, we still have a little left of summer to enjoy! That’s good news right? I’m not quite ready to pack up my summer casual clothes and focus on fall yet. Plus the Texas weather gave us a nice break last week but it’s back to the hot temps.
One of my favorite silhouettes for summer casual is the swing dress. There have been many variations of this cut throughout the years, but it’s made a comeback with the boho set. Today’s versions often have a cute open back where you can show off a fun bralette which is a nod to the 90s. (Seems like that decade is back y’all).
Swing dresses are the best for when your friends call you at 10:30am saying to meet them at brunch in 15 minutes. If you’re like me, a brunch invitation is not one you easily decline, but you also want to look good in a pinch. Throw on a swing dress, a cute drop necklace with gladiator sandals, and you are ready for anything the weekend has for you. It’s also great for running errands if you’re looking for something other than yoga pants to wear to Whole Foods. Try a swing dress with a simple choker and Chuck Taylor’s for another way to wear this style.
So, what do you think of swing dresses? Will you be wearing this style for your next casual weekend?
