Eighty three degrees, beautiful sunshine, a cool breeze provided the vibes this past weekend. I’m so ready for layering, I’m loving fall style already.
I joined some girlfriends out on a patio for brunch after church on Sunday and got some much-needed encouragement. Actually, the whole weekend overall lifted my spirits. I celebrated the third birthday of my god-daughter and the sixth birthday of the niece of one of my closest college friends. Seeing the smile on all tiny kiddos faces was so warming for the soul.
When things are rough, take a step back. Some of my favorite ways to self-reset are to:
- get lost in a good book – light some candles, curl up in a blanket on the couch and read away
- spend some time with loved ones – brunch with friends, cuddles with babies, or FaceTime with family
- retail therapy – spending money not necessary, just browsing on online or window shopping will do the trick
With weather this perfect – warm during the day with a slight chill after the sun goes down, you have to think about transitional fall dressing. Outfits that will take you from day into night. One of my friends asked me what my favorite season was. I debated it but I think fall wins. The weather is perfect, holidays are coming up, and best of all, you get to layer! I don’t know why but I love to layer. Fall style = layering for me.

This outfit is a perfect example of transitional fall style. The sleeveless top and high-waist skirt wouldn’t normally see cooler temps, but adding the cozy cocoon sweater makes this outfit in work in the various temperatures that we see this time of year.
Can I just tell you all how much I love this sweater? Probably a little too much. Funny thing is, my mom hates it. I don’t know if it’s the color, lack of shape, or the fact that I wear it every chance I get. I at least reserve wearing it to weekends. It actually works dressed up or down. You can wear it with boyfriend jeans and heels or with a maxi dress and flats. I love its versatility which is what fall style is all about.
Here’s to cherishing the people who make you smile and to a positive week ahead!
