A bridge leading into the heart of downtown Clinton reopened on Thursday afternoon after closing last week because a piece of its superstructure fell into the South Branch of the Raritan River.

Hunterdon County officials closed the bridge, formally known as County Bridge N-1, on Monday, July 12. The bridge is located adjacent to the Red Mill Museum Village in Clinton at Center Street and 200 feet from Route 173.

Officials performed repairs on the lower chord truss members of the bridge, according to county officials.

Sidewalks remained accessible to pedestrians during the brief closure.

More information about the closure has been posted to Hunterdon County’s website.
