Game recognize game. And it’s cool when some of the game’s top players are in the Lehigh Valley, and have been for some time.

Those players are Lee Chizmar, Erin Shea and their restaurant Bolete, objectively one of the Lehigh Valley’s best eateries. The Salisbury Township restaurant was announced on Wednesday as a semifinalist for a 2020 James Beard Award. The final nominees will be announced on March 25, and the 2020 James Beard Awards Gala will be held on May 4 in Chicago.

This isn’t necessarily new ground for Chizmar, specifically, as he was a Beard Award semifinalist in 2015 for the Best Chef in the Mid-Atlantic region. The restaurant also earned a semifinalist spot for outstanding restaurant in 2019. But while it’s not new ground, it’s hallowed ground all the same, and the restaurant’s accolades speak for themselves.

Bolete was also named one of OpenTable’s 100 best restaurants in the country multiple times, one of Condé Nast Traveler’s hottest new restaurants in 2008 and one of Zagat’s “11 Must-Try Restaurants in Lehigh Valley” in 2017.

Like we said: Objectively one of the best.

Chizmar and Shea opened Bolete in 2007, and have since turned some of the Lehigh Valley’s freshest produce into mouth-watering courses. Bolete is located at 1740 Seidersville Road in Salisbury.
